Medicare
The Federal Government offers a Medicare rebate for psychological services under the auspices of a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).  Sleep health is a mental health issue.  Please discuss your eligibility for a MHCP with your Doctor. For further information please click on the APS fact sheet below relating to Medicare rebates for sleep problems.

With this program, you are able to claim a rebate ($84.80 per session) for psychological services if a GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician has provided a referral letter plus a MHCP.

Under a MHCP from a Doctor, you can claim a rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.  A MHCP does not expire at the end of the year and any unused sessions can be carried over to the next year.  You will be out of pocket for the ‘gap’ between my consultation fee and the Medicare rebate.

Can I get a rebate from Medicare and my private health fund at the same time?

No, unfortunately.  You can only claim either from Medicare or from your private health insurance (if applicable) at the one time.

What are your fees?

The Australian Psychological Society has a schedule of recommended fees for private practice psychological services.  As of June 2015, the recommended rate for a one hour appointment is $238.  My fees are significantly lower than the recommended fee. If you are facing financial hardship please discuss a fee reduction with me when booking an appointment.

Fees are payable at the end of each consultation.  I accept payment by either cash, direct deposit, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card.  I have a HICAPS machine so I can process Medicare rebates.
